Choosing the perfect sausages
When you are looking for sausages on Slimming World, if you do not have access to the Slimming World app or can’t remember which ones were low syn then here are a few tips to help you.
In general, opting for turkey sausages is the best option or low-calorie vegetarian sausages. Chicken sausages are also often a good choice, with both turkey and chicken being much lower in fat than pork or beef generally. Looking at the fat content and calories of sausages can usually be a good guide if you are really stuck.
The way they are cooked
If you are eating out choosing grilled or barbecued rather than fried sausages will always be better. This is because the fat drips off and no extra fat is added to cook them.
Is there really a difference between sausages?
Some sausages are syn free while others are 7 or 8 syns each. Can you imagine the difference that could make to your weight loss? If you have 2 sausages a portion suddenly you realise you are over your daily syns by choosing the wrong ones at the supermarket! That is why I wanted to share some tops buys with you.
Most cocktail sausages are 1-1.5 syns each and they are so easy to eat a number of, aren’t they? Have you tried the Quorn cocktail sausages? They are only half a syn each.

The best Slimming world vegetarian sausages
As a vegetarian I love a meal with sausages but find that some end up as more like a mixture of vegetables in breadcrumbs and just not the same.
As I am sure you know Quorn is a popular vegetarian and vegan brand. For 1 syn each you could have their frozen Cumberland sausages or two of their sausage patties which are frozen in a 4 pack and only half a syn each. They are said to be like the sausage in McDonald’s McMuffins!
At 1.5 syns each you could have the chilled or frozen Quorn sausages.
Linda McCartney sausages
Linda McCartney’s Vegetarian Sausages, chilled or frozen are just half a syn each. Linda McCartney’s Vegetarian Red Onion & Rosemary Sausages though are free and delicious. I have used them to make stuffing before too.
